Throughout my professional life, which spans more than thirty years, I have spent a significant amount of time traveling for work and pleasure. I have logged over a million miles in the air, and countless hours driving on the road. As a result, I have gained a great deal of experience staying in hotel rooms around the world, and I have come to appreciate the importance of having certain items available in my room.
After careful consideration, I have compiled a list of in-room necessities that I believe every hotel should provide. These items include things like high-quality bedding and pillows, a comfortable chair, adequate lighting, and a spacious work desk. Additionally, every hotel room should be equipped with reliable high-speed Wi-Fi, a coffee maker, and a mini-fridge to store refreshments.
I think travelers should carry the following to make their stay more enjoyable, and home like.

1. Amazon Fire Stick
After spending the day working at a remote office, I often find myself spending long hours staring at my laptop screen, which can be quite exhausting for my eyes. So, when I check into my hotel after a long day of work, I like to unwind by connecting my Amazon Fire Stick to the TV and WiFi. This amazing device allows me to stream all of my favorite shows and movies from home, giving me a sense of comfort and familiarity even when I’m away. The larger screen size of the TV also makes it easier for me to watch without straining my eyes, which is a huge relief after a full day of work.
However, I have noticed that the batteries of the remote control often run out quickly, despite my best efforts to conserve them. To ensure that I always have a reliable remote control, I recommend carrying a backup pack of batteries with you. Also, before packing your remote control, it’s a good idea to remove the batteries to prevent any accidental button presses that could drain the batteries. These simple precautions can help you avoid the frustration of a dead remote control and ensure that you can enjoy your favorite shows and movies without any interruptions.
2. Travel Plug Adapter with Power Strip
In the past, I used to carry a bulky power strip with me wherever I went domestically, and a collection of foreign adapters when traveling internationally. However, a few years ago, I came across a mini power strip that has proven to be a lifesaver. This compact device comes equipped with both UK and Europe adapters, three USB-A ports, and a decent-length cord. Since discovering this mini power strip, I no longer need to tote around multiple power supplies, which has lightened my load and made my travels less cumbersome.
Power outlets in hotel rooms are becoming increasingly scarce, which can be quite inconvenient for travelers who need to charge their devices. To avoid such situations, my wife and I always make it a point to carry one Travel Plug Adapter with a Power Strip each wherever we go. This ensures that we have access to power whenever and wherever we need it, without having to worry about moving all the furnitaure in the room to find available power outlets in the room.
Keep in mind that this is just an adapter, make sure anything up plug in to the AC plugs is rated for 240 Volts. Because this is not a converter, it is just an adapter.
3. Coffee instead of the Hotel stuff
To me, coffee is an essential aspect of daily life. It’s something I look forward to every morning. However, my experiences at hotels have been disappointing more often than not. In my travels, I have lost count of the number of times I have checked into a hotel room only to find the coffee provided either tasteless or decaf. It’s frustrating when I’m looking for a good cup of coffee to start my day, but I end up with something that doesn’t even resemble coffee.
To make matters worse, some of the coffee makers in hotel rooms look unreliable and sketchy. I have come across various coffee makers that look like they have not been cleaned in ages, and the thought of using them makes me cringe. As someone who takes their coffee seriously, I believe it’s crucial for hotels to provide good quality coffee and reliable coffee makers to their guests.
Some hotels have a policy of rationing coffee supplies to guests, where each room is allocated only 2 regular and 2 decaf coffee packs per day. However, some guests may prefer to have more than just 2 cups of coffee per day and may not like decaf coffee. Therefore, it would be great if the hotel could provide 4 regular coffee packs per day to satisfy the coffee needs of such guests and make their stay more comfortable.
When it comes to packing for a trip or a getaway, one of our tried and true solutions is to always include some Maxim Korean Coffee in our bags. Despite being an instant coffee, it boasts a rich and satisfying flavor that never fails to impress. What’s more, the individual packages are compact and easy to pack, making it a convenient choice for any kind of travel. So whether you’re camping in the great outdoors or simply need a pick-me-up on a long flight, Maxim Korean Coffee is a reliable and delicious option to consider.
