I am being optimistic by titling this post, New Gear 1 because I will hopefully be getting more new gear as time goes on, and new gear 2 joins new gear 1. I received my Insta360 X3 today, now I don’t jump off cliffs or out of airplanes, so don’t expect that here. What I am looking for that different angle, and I think I can pull that off with the Insta360 and the “Extended Edition Selfie Stick” which is basically a ten-foot pole. Having a ten-foot pole can eliminate some dependency on drones, that are illegal to fly in places like Virginia State Parks, and National Parks and Forests.
I have had my eye on the Insta360s for a while, and almost bought the RS last spring, but something kept telling me no. I really was not enamored with the building block approach. Looked at the X2, but that tiny little screen and some image quality things put me off. I have a GoPro max that does plenty of cool things, but I have always felt that the was something missing. Like providing external power without the use of duct-tape, the Insta360 is not great in that aspect, but it is better.
The camera only arrived today, so I really have not had a chance to do anything more than annoy the cats and dogs, tomorrow I can annoy the grandchildren.
In the near future, I will follow up on my experience with the X3 as well as the ten-foot pole. I am really hoping that all the new gear helps to improve the content of this site.
